The singer further reported that she fell in love with "Toy Story 5" on the spot when she was able to see the film in an early production stage. "And I wrote this song as soon as I got home after the screening," Swift is quoted as saying.

According to industry magazine Deadline, the new song marks a return to Swift's country roots. The track was created in collaboration with her long-time musical partner Jack Antonoff.

"Toy Story 5" continues the beloved Pixar saga, this time focusing on the conflict between "toys versus technology." The classic characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear continue to play a central role. A new character named Lilypad, a tablet computer, brings fresh conflict into the life of the girl Bonnie.

The announcement was accompanied by a high-profile marketing campaign. As early as the end of April, fans discovered a mysterious countdown with a cloud-shaped background on Taylor Swift's website, which, however, disappeared shortly thereafter. Additionally, billboards with the initials "TS" appeared in several cities worldwide.

The album cover of "1989 (Taylor's Version)" was also subtly altered: clouds replaced the originally depicted seagulls in the background. These clues had sparked wild speculation among fans about an upcoming project.

A Marketing Campaign Full of Mysteries

The "Toy Story" series began in 1995 with the first fully computer-animated feature film, which went down in film history as a milestone. Director John Lasseter received a special Oscar for the development and application of the innovative technology. The last installment of the series to date was released in cinemas in 2019.

With "I Knew It, I Knew You," Taylor Swift expands her musical work with another film song. The track is released two weeks before the US theatrical release and is expected to further fuel anticipation for the reunion with Woody, Buzz, and the other toys.
