The Tenants' Association is demanding that policymakers make heat-related adjustments to tenancy law so that tenants in Austrian apartments can more easily install air conditioning units in the future.
Starting Point: Supreme Court Decision on Vienna's Inner City
The trigger is a decision by the Supreme Court (OGH) concerning an apartment in Vienna's inner city, which according to the Tenants' Association severely restricts the possibilities for tenants to operate air conditioning units in their own apartments. President Georg Niedermühlbichler spoke of a vicious circle in the legal assessment of split air conditioning units.
