Grünheide, 25 June 2026
The US electric carmaker Tesla plans to hire an additional 1,000 employees at its Grünheide plant near Berlin and increase production to 7,500 vehicles per week starting in October.
Expansion at the Grünheide site
Tesla is significantly expanding its workforce at its only European production site in Grünheide. As the US electric carmaker Tesla announced, a further 1,000 employees are to be hired at the Grünheide plant near Berlin in order to ramp up manufacturing. The hiring had already been announced in April and is now being put into concrete effect.
With the additional staff, Tesla aims to increase production to 7,500 vehicles per week from October. The plant near Berlin is the company's first and so far only production site in Europe and is regarded as a central building block of its international growth strategy. The expansion follows phases in which demand for Tesla's models in Europe had picked up again.
