Wolfsberg, July 11, 2026

The 24-year-old Thierno Ballo leaves Wolfsberger AC and moves to French second-division club AS Saint-Étienne, where, according to media reports, a transfer fee of around three million euros is expected to be paid.

The transfer of Thierno Ballo to AS Saint-Étienne is, according to consistent media reports, a done deal. The French second-division side is thus securing a strong-dribbling right-footed player who, over the years, had been one of the most eye-catching attacking players in the Austrian Bundesliga. At WAC, Ballo underwent a remarkable development that ultimately opened the door to the Austrian national team for him.

In total, Ballo made 110 competitive appearances in the Wolfsberg shirt. He scored 33 goals and added a further 18 assists. In sum, the winger thus recorded 51 direct goal contributions for the Carinthians, a record that clearly underlines his importance in the squad. However, in the past season he was repeatedly no longer used in Wolfsberg.
