Tens of thousands of people marched through Stockholm on Saturday demanding stronger climate policies, in a protest organised by more than 200 environmental groups and associations.
Organisers and Swedish broadcaster SVT said demonstrators gathered in the Swedish capital to call on policymakers to accelerate measures to limit global warming. Police and rally organisers estimated the turnout at more than 10,000 participants, according to AFP reporting cited by German news agency dpa.
The march was organised under the banner of a broad coalition of environmental associations. According to police and the organisers, slightly more than 200 environmental protection organisations and associations took part in the protest procession through Stockholm. Activists carried banners and placards referencing renewable energy, public transport investment and climate finance.
