Torres sparks the turnaround

Spanish World Cup winner Torres, who had been struggling with injury problems in the weeks leading up to the season opener, came off the bench and brought fresh energy to the attack. Alongside Fabian Ruiz, who was also introduced at halftime, Torres orchestrated PSG's late push.

In the 75th minute, the first goal came when Fabian Ruiz initiated an attack down the left flank and delivered the ball into the penalty area. The team's support for coach Luis Enrique seemed to believe in a comeback after that goal.

Outlook: Stability needed

The match looked set to end in PSG's first defeat of the season as Torres rose to head home a cross from the right in stoppage time. The goal in the fourth minute of added time leveled the match at 2-2 and sparked celebrations among the Paris players.

It was nevertheless a warning sign for PSG at the start of the season. The defense looked vulnerable to quick counterattacks from the Bretons in the first 45 minutes, and it was only after a significant improvement in the second half that the defending league champion was able to impose itself on the game.

Stade Rennes, meanwhile, missed out on a perfect start to the season with the late equalizer and had to settle for a point in the end, though it should still boost confidence for the home side. Coach Habib Beye spoke positively about his team's performance for long stretches after the match.

For Luis Enrique, the task now is to stabilize his team defensively in the coming weeks and improve coordination among the newly assembled parts of the squad. From the Paris coach's perspective, the point at Rennes was salvaged, but the first-half performance raised questions.
