German cabaret artist Torsten Sträter has said his cancer treatment has been successfully completed and that he now feels better than ever, while also revealing a separate diabetes diagnosis that was discovered during his care.
Sträter, 59, made the comments on the 1Live comedy talk "Sträter & Lobrecht," the show's first episode since he returned to the stage in May. He used the appearance to update listeners on his health months after publicly disclosing a tumor diagnosis. "Also ich befinde mich auf dem Wege der Besserung und habe mich noch nie so gut gefühlt, was seltsam ist, wenn man bedenkt. ... ne?", he said.
Speaking alongside co-host Felix Lobrecht, Sträter told the audience that the past six months had been unexpectedly enjoyable. "Es seien sicherlich die amüsantesten sechs Monate seines Lebens gewesen", he said, attributing the dark humour of the period to the absurdity of the situation. Sträter added that he was being treated by doctors he admires: "Tumor gehabt, in Behandlung gegangen, Glück gehabt, weil geile Ärzte, natürlich wieder alles Kölner."
