Tractor accident in Vorarlberg claims two lives – father and daughter die in rollover in Satteins

The fatally injured driver was the father of the two children riding along. In addition to the six-year-old daughter, who died at the accident scene, the man had also taken his second daughter, aged four, on the ride with the tractor and trailer, as the executive authorities announced.

Victims and injured

The four-year-old survived the rollover but was flown to Feldkirch State Hospital with injuries of unspecified severity. The child's current condition was not initially known. The identity of the family was not released by police.

The rescue chain was activated after the emergency call came in during the afternoon. In addition to the emergency medical helicopter, two fire departments, mountain rescue, a crisis intervention team, and police with several aircraft (Libelle, drone) and patrol vehicles were deployed. The accident site on the meadow was secured over a wide area.

Rescue operation

The Vorarlberg State Police Directorate informed about the incident during the night leading into Wednesday. The Austrian news agency APA adopted the report on July 15, 2026. The authorities announced further investigations into the cause of the accident.

The case raises questions about the safety of children on agricultural vehicles. In Austria, the transport of children on tractors is permitted under certain conditions, with strict requirements regarding seating and speed, among other things.
