The trial against a 34-year-old man, who allegedly fired four shots in a betting shop on Gießen's Marktplatz on October 11, 2025, injuring three people, began at the Gießen Regional Court on Wednesday.
Indictment: Four shots in a matter of seconds
The Gießen public prosecutor's office accuses the defendant of attempted treacherous murder, dangerous bodily harm, and a violation of the weapons act. According to the indictment, the 34-year-old entered the betting shop in downtown Gießen with a semi-automatic pistol drawn and, according to the indictment, fired without warning at two patrons sitting at a table. The shots hit the two men in the torso and leg. A third patron, who was sitting at a slot machine, was injured by a ricochet, according to the indictment.
