Weiden, 11 June 2026
A 53-year-old former managing director of a now-insolvent waste disposal company from the Oberpfalz region and a 57-year-old former employee went on trial at the Weiden Regional Court on Thursday on charges of illegal waste exports to the Czech Republic and Poland.
The defendant, described in court as the main accused, was led into the courtroom wearing an ankle monitor. He is jointly charged with a 57-year-old co-defendant, identified in the indictment as a former employee of the company's Czech branch, who is alleged to have organized transports into the Czech Republic. Both defendants are accused of jointly carrying out the illegal transfer of non-hazardous waste in 39 cases.
