Donald Trump has commented on reports of an alleged Iranian assassination plot against him and announced retaliation of unprecedented scale in the event of an attack.
Donald Trump has spoken publicly for the first time about reports of an alleged assassination plot by Iran against him. In a conversation with the tabloid "New York Post," he said: "I am number one on Iran's death list." The remarks come amid a phase of growing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The Republican simultaneously announced retaliation should anything happen to him. "I have left instructions – should anything happen, they should literally be bombed at a scale they have never experienced before," the "New York Post" quoted him as saying, citing a conversation on Friday. Trump did not name anyone in doing so; the newspaper placed his statements in the context of Iran.
