Following the Legionella outbreak in Linz, TÜV Austria is calling for the establishment of a central registry for evaporative cooling systems in order to be able to comprehensively monitor the hygienic condition of the systems in the future.
Demand for greater oversight
Following the increased occurrence of Legionella illnesses in Linz, TÜV Austria has called for a central registration of evaporative cooling systems. Thomas Fleischanderl, Head of the Environmental Protection division at TÜV Austria, told Radio Wien that one must actively search for the systems, as it is not officially known where they are located. "Man könnte nachschlagen, wie denn der hygienische Zustand dieser Rückkühlanlagen aussieht", Fleischanderl said verbatim.
