Background of the check
The two boys were out together on their e-scooters in Michelhausen shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday when they noticed the technical vehicle inspection at around 10:50 a.m. According to police, the two twelve-year-olds turned their vehicles around and rode off in the opposite direction. Officers from the local police station then took up the pursuit together with experts from the state government.
After the blue lights and sirens were activated, the two e-scooter riders accelerated further and continued their ride at a speed of around 50 km/h within the town area. While one of the two boys stopped shortly afterwards, the second rider continued to accelerate, at times traveling at more than 80 kilometers per hour through the town area, including through a 30 km/h zone.
