Three 12-year-old boys cycling to school in Dinslaken were struck by a car on Wednesday morning, leaving two dead and one with minor injuries.

The Collision and Immediate Response

The collision occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Hagenstraße, near an elementary school and the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium, shortly before classes were scheduled to begin. The three boys were on bicycles when a 47-year-old female driver veered off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation and hit the group.

After striking the children, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then collided with three parked cars and sustained significant damage. The driver was seriously injured and transported for medical care.

Emergency responders, including two rescue helicopters, treated the victims at the scene. Two of the boys were critically injured and later died in hospital. The third boy sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment; he is being cared for by his parents.

School crossing guards and witnesses at a nearby kiosk immediately alerted emergency services. Emergency chaplains were deployed to the scene, and the affected secondary school is receiving enhanced school social work, school psychological support, and pastoral care.
