Two 12-year-old boys died in hospital after a 47-year-old female driver struck them and a third boy as they cycled to school in Dinslaken, Germany, on Wednesday morning.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Hagenstraße, in a residential area near a primary school, shortly before classes were due to start. The three boys were students at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium and were on their way to class.
After hitting the children, the car continued and collided with three parked vehicles, causing significant damage. The driver sustained serious injuries, while the third boy suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
Emergency services treated the victims at the scene before transporting the children to hospitals. Two rescue helicopters were deployed due to the severity of the injuries. Despite medical efforts, two of the boys later died.
