Two 12-year-old boys died and a third was injured when a car veered off a road and struck their bicycles on their way to school in Dinslaken, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Hagenstraße, a residential street near an elementary school, shortly before classes were set to begin. The three boys, all students at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium, were cycling to school when a 47-year-old female driver left the roadway for a still-unknown reason and hit them.

After striking the children, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into three parked cars and caused significant damage. The driver sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Emergency responders, including two rescue helicopters, were dispatched to the scene due to the severity of the injuries. A police officer who was regulating traffic at the intersection made the initial report of the accident.
