Three 12-year-old boys cycling to school were struck by a car on Hagenstraße in Dinslaken on Wednesday morning, leaving two dead and the driver under investigation for negligent homicide.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. in a residential area near an elementary school, shortly before classes were set to begin. The three boys, students at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium, were on bicycles when a 47-year-old woman veered off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation.
After striking the children, the car continued and collided with three parked vehicles, causing significant damage. The driver sustained serious injuries, while two of the boys were so critically hurt that rescue helicopters were deployed to transport them to hospitals. Both later died from their severe injuries. The third boy suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
