A 47-year-old female driver veered off Hagenstraße in Dinslaken on Wednesday morning and struck three 12-year-old boys on bicycles shortly before school started, leaving two dead and one lightly injured.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. in a residential area near an elementary school, according to the Wesel district police authority. The three boys were students at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium and were on their way to class.

After hitting the children, the driver lost control of her vehicle, which continued and crashed into three parked cars, causing significant damage. The driver was seriously injured in the crash.

Rescue workers treated the victims at the scene before transporting the children to hospitals. Two rescue helicopters were deployed due to the severity of the injuries. Two of the boys, both aged 12, later died in hospital. The third boy sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment; he is being cared for by his parents.
