Klagenfurt, 09 July 2026
A 21-year-old caregiver was sentenced on Wednesday at the Klagenfurt Regional Court to two and a half years of unconditional imprisonment because she had enabled accomplices to access the apartment of a couple she looked after.
As prosecutor Veronika Holub said, the young woman had started working for the couple in Klagenfurt in July 2025 because the wife needed a caregiver. Initially, the defendant had been a valued helper: "Die Pflegerin war aufgeschlossen und kommunikativ, das Ehepaar war auch sehr zufrieden mit der Angeklagten", Holub noted.
According to the statements, on the night of the crime the caregiver opened the balcony door and let two other men into the apartment. The defendant had previously only been questioned as a witness and had felt confident about her position: "Die Angeklagte wurde erst nur als Zeugin vernommen und war sich ihrer Sache auch sicher - sie hat sogar freiwillig ihr Handy abgegeben", the prosecutor said.
