At the Regional Court of St. Pölten, the verdict in the trial of a severe home invasion in Amstetten and the shooting of police officers is expected on Tuesday.
The public prosecutor's office accuses a 59-year-old Kosovo Albanian, together with an accomplice, of carrying out a severe armed home invasion in a single-family home in Amstetten and of firing shots at intervening police officers. The main defendant must answer for attempted murder, attempted resistance to state authority, and unauthorized possession of a firearm; in the event of a conviction for attempted murder, he faces life imprisonment according to the defense.
The indictment charges the duo with having stormed a house in Amstetten on the evening of November 24, 2024, and firing shots at police officers during the raid. The main defendant's accomplice was shot and seriously injured during the storming of the building; he died in the hospital the following day. The main defendant was arrested at the scene.
