Two patients died and at least 34 people were injured in a fire in the roof of the LUP-Klinikum in Ludwigslust near Schwerin in the early hours of Thursday morning; the hospital is currently being completely evacuated.

Two people have died in the roof fire at a hospital in Ludwigslust near Schwerin in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, according to initial findings. As a spokeswoman for the Ludwigslust-Parchim district told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa): "Wir haben zwei Tote". According to the authorities, the victims are patients of the hospital. It was initially unclear whether the two deceased had shared a room.

According to dpa, at least 34 people were injured. The district spokeswoman stated: "Unter ihnen seien aber keine Schwerverletzten". Police had previously stated that seriously injured persons were among the injured, which the district spokeswoman did not confirm. The situation on site was described as highly dynamic in the morning.
