Two people killed in truck accident in Hausen im Wiesental

The accident in Hausen im Wiesental was not the first comparable incident in Baden-Württemberg. A similar tragedy had already occurred in Schramberg at the end of March.

There, a truck struck a 29-year-old mother and her three-year-old son while they were on the sidewalk. Both people died. The comparison shows that within the span of just a few months, pedestrians in two locations in Baden-Württemberg were struck by trucks on sidewalks.

The case in Hausen im Wiesental must therefore be viewed against the backdrop of another serious traffic accident with a comparable pattern. However, the verified information cites neither a cause nor any specific connection between the two accidents.

The material provided contains no further confirmed information about the cause of the accident or possible measures to improve road safety. Any such assessment would therefore not currently be well founded.

What is known so far

The dpa news channel and the TV Live-Stream reported on the tragedy on October 29, 2026. Information is also available on the earlier accident in Schramberg, which was confirmed by three sources.

In both Hausen im Wiesental and Schramberg, the accidents struck people while they were on sidewalks. The two events took place in Baden-Württemberg, roughly seven months apart.

The severe consequences of both accidents particularly underscore the vulnerability of pedestrians in road traffic. The verified facts contain no indications of a systemic cause or any consequences already announced.
