A 62-year-old truck driver crashed his gravel-laden heavy vehicle into a hair salon in St. Johann in der Haide (district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld) on Friday morning; the 60-year-old owner of the salon died, and two customers were seriously injured.

The accident occurred shortly before 10:25 a.m. in the locality of St. Johann in der Haide in eastern Styria. As confirmed by police, the 62-year-old truck driver was traveling from Markt Allhau toward Hartberg when his vehicle left the road and struck the outer wall of a hair salon. At the time of impact, two customers as well as the owner were in the premises, according to police.

The 60-year-old business owner sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The two other women, aged 52 and 58, who had also been in the salon, were taken to hospitals with serious injuries. The exact injuries were not initially detailed by police; they classified the condition of the two survivors as seriously injured.
