The British government on Monday released more than 1,500 pages of documents concerning Peter Mandelson's appointment as U.S. ambassador and his continued correspondence with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The documents, published on the government's website just after 2 p.m., represent what officials described as one of the biggest-ever parliamentary publications. They include emails, text messages, and WhatsApp logs exchanged between government ministers, special advisers, and Mandelson himself in the run-up to his posting as envoy.
This second tranche follows an earlier release in March, when official vetting documents warned of what were termed 'reputational risks' over Mandelson's Epstein ties. The new material provides a more granular look at internal government communications and direct correspondence with the Labour grandee.
