Fedorov announced his resignation on Wednesday evening via the messaging service Telegram. He wrote there: "It was a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people as Defense Minister." Previously, he had served for several years as one of the youngest ministers in the Ukrainian government.

Background: Fedorov's Profile

When appointed at the age of 35, Fedorov was the youngest defense minister Ukraine had ever had. He took over the leadership of the ministry with the task of bringing fresh momentum to the Ukrainian war machine after four years of war.

Fedorov was considered an early proponent of the increased use of drones, which have since become indispensable on the front lines. This profiling had earned him recognition both within Ukraine and internationally.

President Volodymyr Zelensky justified the government reshuffle with "new challenges and new tasks." According to Ukrainian media reports, Fedorov could be replaced by the current Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
