The incident is part of a phase of intensified mutual attacks. Russia, which began a war of aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, has intensified its ballistic missile strikes on Ukraine in recent weeks. In attacks on Sunday, at least six people were killed according to Ukrainian authorities. Dozens more were injured. Ukraine has been defending itself for more than four years against the Russian war of aggression with Western assistance.

The damage in Podolsk currently affects civilian infrastructure and a residential building. In Domodedovo, six of the seven injured were treated as inpatients. The evacuation of the Wildberries logistics center proceeded without further incidents according to the company; operations have since resumed. The governor initially provided no information on the exact number of affected residential buildings or the extent of property damage.
