The United Nations documents a dramatic increase in sexual violence in armed conflicts in a new report and makes serious accusations against Israel's security forces, and for the first time, also against Russia.

The UN's Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten, stated in New York that the number of documented cases had doubled compared to the previous year, reaching 9,788. The incidents spanned 21 conflict regions worldwide.

Patten emphasized that sexual violence is being used deliberately as a tactic of war, torture, terrorism, and political repression. She stated verbatim: "In 2025, the number of documented cases of sexual violence, used as a tactic of war, torture, terrorism, and political repression, has dramatically increased. The cases were characterized by extreme brutality and were predominantly directed against women and girls."
