Vienna, 01 July 2026

At the end of June, 368,948 people were registered as unemployed or in training with the Arbeitsmarktservice (AMS), an increase of 1.2 percent compared to the same month last year.

Background: Data and Reporting

The current AMS figures for the end of June show a persistently tense situation in the Austrian labor market. A total of 368,948 people were without a job or were in a training measure of the Arbeitsmarktservice, as shown by the data published on Wednesday.

Compared to the same month last year, this represents an increase of 1.2 percent. This continues the trend of a growing number of unemployed and training participants that has been observed for some time. The data refer to the reporting date at the end of the reporting month of June.

The Arbeitsmarktservice is the central point of contact for unemployed people in Austria and manages both the registration and the assignment to training and support measures. The statistics published monthly are regarded as the most important indicator of developments in the domestic labor market.
