A US federal court has halted a law considered the first of its kind nationwide, which would have required website operators and software developers to prevent the creation of realistic AI-generated nude images of identifiable individuals, after Elon Musk's AI company xAI filed a lawsuit against it.
The court concluded that the law in its current form is not constitutionally tenable. A detailed substantive reasoning from the court was not initially available; the decision was made as part of a preliminary injunction against the enforcement of the law.
