The US has flown attacks on Iran for the ninth consecutive night, with the US military declaring the wave completed in the early morning Central European Time, while both sides are keeping the door open to negotiations.
As the responsible US regional command Centcom announced on X in the early morning Central European Time, the US military has, according to its own account, concluded its renewed nightly wave of attacks on targets in Iran. Military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance facilities, missile and drone launch apparatuses, as well as communications networks had been targeted. This marks the ninth consecutive night the US has struck targets in Iran.
Targets and justification for the attacks
As further stated, the objective of the attacks had been to further weaken Iran's ability to attack commercial ships and civilian seafarers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The dispute over the strait, which is important for global trade in oil, gas and fertilizer, has seen the Iran war escalate again since the beginning of the month. Sirens sounded several times in Bahrain due to Iranian missiles and drones, and a ship near the Strait of Hormuz was hit by a projectile.
