A US federal judge has instructed the government of President Donald Trump to readmit the news organizations CNN, MS NOW and Politico as accredited journalists at the White House, after they had previously been barred.

The order was issued by Judge Timothy Kelly at the US District Court for the District of Columbia, who on Tuesday ruled in favor of a lawsuit brought by the affected media. Kelly had already ruled in an earlier decision in May that the expulsion of the broadcasters was unlawful, but at the same time stated that the government could reorganize accreditation while maintaining constitutional minimum standards. With his most recent decision, he now obliges Washington to improve the procedure and readmit the journalists until a final judgment is issued in the main proceedings.
