A US military Boeing C-17 Globemaster III landed at Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Tuesday morning after departing from Riga, according to flight-tracking portal Flightradar 24, and the Russian presidential office initially did not respond to requests for comment.

The aircraft's route, observed via Flightradar 24 and corroborated by nine sources, took off from the Latvian capital Riga and crossed into Russian airspace before touching down at Vnukovo, an airport that has historically hosted sensitive diplomatic and governmental flights. The Kremlin did not initially confirm the purpose of the flight or confirm whether any US officials were on board.
