Former Second Bundesliga record goalscorer Simon Terodde has suffered a broken fibula and a torn syndesmotic ligament in a Vespa accident and must postpone his planned debut with Kreisliga club SSV Lützenkirchen.

The 38-year-old striker ended his professional career in the summer of 2024 and had wanted to go in search of goals again in the new season with SSV Lützenkirchen, a club from the Leverkusen Kreisliga area. That will not happen for the time being: As Terodde announced on Sunday via his Instagram account, he sustained serious injuries to his right leg in a "kleiner Vespa-Unfall" (minor Vespa accident). A photo from the hospital shows him with his leg in a cast.

In the post, Terodde described the diagnosis: "Wadenbeinbruch und Syndesmoseband gerissen." The injury is painful, "aber es gibt Schlimmeres – der Blick geht nach vorn", wrote the striker. At the same time, he acknowledged that it was "richtig bitter" to miss the start of training and the season at SSV Lützenkirchen. "Nach meiner Zusage hatte ich wirklich richtig Bock drauf!", he added.
