German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul assured continued German support during talks in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, particularly for the energy infrastructure and preparations for the winter.
According to the Federal Foreign Office, concrete winter aid measures are at the center of the talks during his visit to Kyiv. Wadephul is consulting with Ukrainian officials on the delivery of generators, spare parts, and other energy equipment. The aim is to stabilize Ukraine's energy supply and protect critical infrastructure against possible attacks.

The trip coincides with Ukraine's Independence Day, which will be celebrated on the following Monday. The visit is therefore also seen as a political signal of solidarity. Wadephul had announced the trip a few days earlier to underscore Germany's continued support.
