The Austrian discus thrower Lukas Weißhaidinger has confirmed his participation at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham after ten days of back problems.

Austria's discus record holder Lukas Weißhaidinger will compete at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The Upper Austrian had been struggling for ten days with a muscle hardening in his upper back, which prevented him from regular training. Based on the course of the preparation days, he can now give the all-clear.

Training under load

On Wednesday, Weißhaidinger completed an intensive throwing training session, in which he tested his movement sequence again under competition conditions. The following day, on Thursday, the ÖLV record holder went into the weight room, where he put 200 kilograms on the bench press – a clear signal of his regained upper-body resilience.
