China’s President Xi Jinping received former US President Donald Trump with a sharp warning while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of stable relations between the two countries. During their more than two-hour discussion in Beijing, Xi described China-US relations as "the most important bilateral relationship in the world" and stated that they are "good for the world."

Warning Over Taiwan Issue

Xi made it clear that relations between Beijing and Washington could enter an "extremely dangerous phase" if Trump ignores his demands regarding Taiwan. "This could push China-US relations into an 'extremely dangerous situation,'" Xi said, according to China’s Foreign Ministry.
