Berlin, 2 November 2026
Youth protests that began in France are causing disruption in several European countries, while Berlin’s education senator Katharina Günther-Wünsch said on 2 November 2026 that there is a limit to instrumentalizing school-related grievances.
The protests began in France and subsequently spread across Europe. In several countries, the actions are affecting everyday life in schools. According to verified information, Berlin in particular—through the Berlin Police, schools, and representatives of the protesting youth—has repeatedly been connected to the events.
Katharina Günther-Wünsch said the limit had been reached wherever people outside schools instrumentalize students’ grievances for their own purposes, block access to schools, and thereby disrupt lessons and school peace. In doing so, she directed her criticism not fundamentally at the causes of the protesting young people, but at external actors and blockades.
