Austrian State Secretary Elisabeth Zehetner has called for intensified cross-border cooperation in tourism with Greece, describing the European competition for skilled workers as a central question for the future.
Zehetner pointed to the growing importance of European solutions for the tourism industry. "Many central questions of tourism can no longer be solved at the national level," the State Secretary emphasized. She announced that Austria would continue to play an active role and would "work together with strong partners like Greece to advance concrete solutions."
Skilled workers from Greece
In the previous year, around 2,000 people from Greece were employed in Austria's accommodation and gastronomy sector. This number is set to rise further, according to the Tourism Ministry. "Austrian businesses are looking for qualified employees, while people in other member states are looking for good employment opportunities," Zehetner noted. "The competition for skilled workers will therefore become one of the central European questions for the future."
