New York, 30 August 2026
Alexander Zverev has highlighted the physical strength of his opponent ahead of the much-anticipated clash with Spanish defending champion Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open in New York.
Zverev sees the world number one at no disadvantage despite his several-month break. "I think he's probably at the same, if not even better, physical level, because he's probably done a lot of physical work over the last four or five months," said the German top player according to dpa information. The Spaniard had taken a longer competitive break after his triumph in New York last year and had only returned to the tour shortly before the Grand Slam classic in Flushing Meadows.
