A 14-year-old girl is facing a murder charge for allegedly stabbing a 67-year-old woman to death on February 23 at the Baumgarten cemetery in Vienna.
The victim was discovered by a passerby at 17:30 with numerous stab wounds, and resuscitation attempts failed. Police later arrested the juvenile suspect at a socio-psychiatric group home where she had lived since November.
Authorities seized a pocket knife believed to be the murder weapon, blood-stained clothing, and the suspect's mobile phone. Reports indicate a video of the crime may exist on the phone.
During interrogation, the juvenile confessed to investigators but provided no motive. According to officials, she had no prior criminal record and likely chose the victim at random.
An expert commissioned by the prosecution diagnosed the teenager with an unstable personality disorder while acknowledging her sense of injustice, deeming her culpable. The prosecution has filed murder charges.
