A 16-year-old has been critically injured in an incident involving a car in St. Margarethen an der Raab in the district of Weiz in Styria and had to be placed in an artificial coma at the scene of the accident.

According to initial findings, the teenager was seriously injured when he held onto a vehicle. According to initial information, this involved so-called car surfing, in which a person holds onto the outside of a car or its rear while it is moving.

What is known so far

After initial treatment by the Red Cross and an emergency doctor, the 16-year-old had to be placed in an artificial coma directly at the scene of the accident. This was intended to stabilize his condition before he was taken to a hospital.
