18-year-old dies in head-on crash in Lower Austria – four passengers partially life-threateningly injured

His four passengers were also injured in the crash, one of them life-threateningly and two seriously. Injured and rescue operation

The 67-year-old driver of the oncoming car and his two female passengers were slightly injured in the collision and taken to the Baden regional clinic. The exact circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.

The L4024 was closed to traffic for four and a half hours during the operation. Fire department, rescue services and police were deployed. The cause of the accident and the exact identity of the victim were not initially made public by police.

Separately, another fatal traffic accident occurred on Saturday evening in Zirl in the district of Innsbruck-Land in Tyrol. A 35-year-old car driver had turned out of a parking lot onto the Tyrolean federal road and had apparently overlooked the motorcyclist, as the Tyrol State Police Directorate announced in a press release.

Second accident in Tyrol

The motorcyclist, a 55-year-old Austrian, succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene of the accident. The car driver remained uninjured but suffered shock. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the accident, which occurred at around 7:30 p.m.

The Zirl fire department, rescue services and police were deployed. The investigations into the exact cause of the accident in Tyrol are also ongoing. In both accidents, it is being examined whether excessive speed, inattention or other factors played a role.
