Course of the accident

The trapped man began to shout loudly and call for help. His wife, who was nearby, heard the cries for help and was thus alerted to the accident. After the woman had succeeded in freeing her husband from the trapped position, the rescue chain was set in motion. First responders provided medical care to the 66-year-old at the scene of the accident before further rescue forces arrived.

Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was airlifted by rescue helicopter to the hospital in Ried im Innkreis after receiving initial care. There he received further treatment.
