A 63-year-old farmer plunged down a steep meadow with his tractor and hay tedder on Wednesday in Kürnberg in the district of Liezen and had to be airlifted to the Accident Hospital in Linz with injuries of undetermined severity.

Update from July 22, 2026: Compared to the initial report, the emergency services have clarified that at the time of the alarm, level T2 was reported with a person trapped under the tractor. In addition, sirens wailed in the municipality at 0:27 a.m., as the dispatch report shows.

The accident occurred at around 5 p.m., when the 63-year-old wanted to ted hay with his tractor and hay tedder on a steep meadow. For reasons that have yet to be clarified, the vehicle veered off the meadow and tumbled down the slope. The farmer became trapped under the tractor.
