A 79-year-old Austrian was killed on Thursday afternoon when he fell roughly 40 to 45 degrees down a steep slope while hiking with his seven-year-old grandson from the Hecherhütte to the Kellerjoch Chapel in Fügenberg in Tyrol.
Course of the accident
According to police, the man was on his way in the afternoon together with the child from the Hecherhütte to the Kellerjoch Chapel. The grandfather was walking ahead when he fell down the slope. The child remained unharmed according to current findings.
Police reported the incident on Thursday. No further details on the exact circumstances of the fall were initially provided. A crisis intervention team was deployed.
