A new ADAC analysis shows that Super E10 petrol and diesel at motorway fuel stations in Germany cost an average of 33 cents more per liter than at stations off the motorway. The biggest markups are in Rhineland-Palatinate, the lowest in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg.
For the first time, the ADAC has compared all 360 motorway fuel stations with the around 14,000 roadside fuel stations in Germany and found that petrol and diesel on motorways cost 33 cents per liter more on a national average.
According to a nationwide ADAC analysis, the price difference between motorway and roadside fuel stations in Thuringia averaged 24 cents for Super E10 and 23 cents for diesel. Calculated for a 50-liter fill-up, that amounts to twelve euros.
Nationwide, Super E10 and diesel at motorway fuel stations cost an average of 33 cents per liter more each than at stations off the main roads. Calculated for a 50-liter tank, that comes to 16.50 euros.
Where Drivers Pay the Most
The biggest price differences were calculated by the ADAC in Rhineland-Palatinate: The ADAC calculated the largest gap at 42 cents for E10 and 43 cents for diesel in Rhineland-Palatinate. That means 50 liters there cost more than 21 euros extra compared to an average roadside fuel station.
