The ADV airport association has lowered its passenger forecast for German air traffic and is warning of persistent competitive disadvantages compared with the rest of Europe.

Germany's airports must significantly scale back their forecasts for passenger development in the current year. The German Airports Association (ADV) announced that the recovery initially assumed is weaker than hoped.

ADV Chief Executive Ralph Beisel cited the persistently high location costs at German airports as the central reason. Despite the reduction in the air travel tax, government-imposed location costs remained significantly above the European level. As a result, Germany as a business location enters every new crisis at a considerable competitive disadvantage.
