Background: Aftershocks in Tyrol
Two days after the main earthquake in the Innsbruck area, the earth trembled again in Tyrol. Geosphere Austria, the state institution for monitoring seismic activity in Austria, recorded the tremor on Sunday morning. With a magnitude of 1.8, it is a light earthquake that usually causes hardly any damage and is often only detected by measuring instruments.
The precise localization showed that the aftershock occurred southeast of Innsbruck. The region had already been shaken by a noticeable earthquake on Friday. Seismologists have been observing the further activity since then in order to identify possible patterns or clusters.
