A fire caused by a burning battery in a Vienna apartment on Wednesday afternoon left two toddlers in critical condition and their 14-year-old sister with minor injuries.
The fire occurred around 4:45 PM in a multi-unit residential building on Effingergasse in Vienna's Ottakring district.
Emergency responders had to resuscitate the two young children at the scene before transporting them to the hospital.
The 14-year-old sister who was watching the toddlers at the time also suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.
Firefighters from Vienna's professional fire department responded quickly to the scene and contained the blaze.
