The former Kremlin propagandist Ilya Remeslo, who had recently emerged as a sharp critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been arrested in Russia and transferred to Moscow.
Arrest and Transfer
The Russian news agency TASS first reported the arrest, citing investigators. According to the report, the blogger is charged with spreading false information about the Russian army. His lawyer, Sergey Badamshin, said his client was being transferred from his place of residence in Saint Petersburg to the capital.
From Supporter to Critic
Remeslo had previously made a name for himself primarily as a supporter of Kremlin policy and as a denouncer of the Russian opposition. After his discharge from a clinic, he continued his criticism of Putin and of conditions in Russia — a break with his earlier line that attracted international attention.
